Sporting Legends Headline Port Macquarie Basketball Association Sports Lunch
The Port Macquarie Basketball Association (PMBA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming Sports Lunch at Settlers Inn Hotel on Friday, 14th February, featuring two of Australia’s sporting icons—Lauren Jackson and Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt.
The event will kick off with drinks in the bar at Settlers Inn, followed by the main event in The Pavilion. Guests will enjoy lunch while hearing firsthand stories from these celebrated athletes focusing on their sporting careers, teamwork and dedication.
Lauren Jackson is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. A four-time Olympian and former WNBA MVP, Lauren’s illustrious career includes multiple championships, international accolades, and a legacy as a trailblazer for women in sport.
Joining her on stage is Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt, a former AFL star with a career spanning 291 games across St Kilda, Hawthorn, and the Sydney Swans. Known for his larger-than-life personality and insight into the game, Spida is now a popular radio presenter on Triple M, where he continues to entertain sports fans across the country.
In addition to the star-studded lineup, the event will also feature several of PMBA’s 2025 international players, giving attendees a chance to meet some of the association’s rising talent.
The day will include raffles and an auction, with all proceeds going towards supporting the Port Macquarie Basketball Association and its initiatives.
Supported by PMBA sponsors Settlers Inn and Andrew Miedecke Ford, 100 lucky lunchtime guests will hear first-hand Lauren’s story from country pathways in Albury to basketball’s highest accolades. Joining Lauren on the speakers panel is AFL legend and radio star Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt.
The lunch, a fundraiser for the senior representative program will be the start of a huge weekend of basketball with around 30 teams competing in the Andrew Miedecke Ford Senior Seaside Classic over Saturday and Sunday.
“The Sports Lunch will be a great afternoon of entertainment and sports stories and the perfect start to our big weekend of pre-season match-ups,” said PMBA President Grant Carson.
